Ran for about 28 minutes, not sure what pace I was going out, but probably did about 3 miles.

Nice, sunny, cool day. My knee was bothering me a little at the end of the run, which I assume is from the runners knee I had a couple of years back.

 Easy/medium pace

 Goals:

Run at least 3 days a week.

Lift at least 2 days a week.

Get back into racing shape.

I was out for about 56 minutes, but not sure the exact distance. Long, slow run. My knee was bothering me more this time, which hopefully will go away. I stopped and took about a 2 minute walking break in the middle. Again, I didn't lift weights!

Welcome! I'll be a grad student this fall and I'm also trying to get back into some good running shape :-) Good luck with the training!

Was out for 20 minutes with 2 short walking breaks. I felt sore from yesterday and ran slow.  Knee didn't bothering me much except for towards the end of the run. I used the route caculator, which I found really cool because I have never used one of those before. In the past I have always either guessed my mileage or got in the car and caculated it.

Welcome to the blog! Good luck with your goals and take care of that knee! Is it IT band stuff, or the actual knee?? I have issues with the outside of my knee (IT band) and Yoga has helped immensely.

I want to get a graduates degree in education one day soon! As soon as the baby of the house gets a little more gorwn up, I am back to school!

From beef on Thu, Apr 16, 2009 at 07:32:20 from 72.230.153.73

My knees have been hurting too. I'm assuming the pain is because I've just recently went from the treadmill to outside and I've been increasing mileage. I think I'm hoping for it to magically disappear soon...

From Kelli on Thu, Apr 16, 2009 at 10:16:41 from 71.219.75.132

Have you taught at all or did you go straight from your bachelors to working on your graduate degree (by your age, I am guessing that is the case)? I taught school for 5 years but then quit when I had my 4th child. I am anxiously awaiting returning to my job one day. I am not sure how the market it is in Utah for educators. 2 years ago there was a major shortage of teachers, it was pretty scary for us parents. But so many people have gotten back in to teaching (I am assuming because husbands are not doing as well in this economy) that I am not sure what the market is like. My sister is going trying to get a job for next year, so we will see how that goes.

ANYWAY, take care of that knee. It is funny you say that going outside is what hurt you. I had the exact opposite happen when I started running less outside and more on the treadmill. Funny.

Always good to see another grad student into running. Good luck with running, and best of luck with the knee.

I did 21 minutes of easy running then 5 x 1 minute intervals with a 1 minute walking break in between to get my heart rate up. I was trying really hard to remember all the streets I kept turning on to caculate the distance on course tool. However, I started forgetting after the first 5 or so streets. My total time out with 34 minutes.

Total Distance

I didn't feel like running today, but made myself go. I ran the first 10 minutes slow and felt really bored with it. Therefore, I started doing 30 sec walk, sec fast run, 30 sec walk, 30 sec fast run, for the reminder of the run which ended up being 22 minutes total. This got my heart rate up. There's a cat that keeps coming to our apartment door wanting to be let in, we don't know if it has an owner or is a stray. Anyone know what to do?

Good for you for getting out there and running!

I can't give any advice on cats - I never grew up with pets so I'm pretty afraid of anything that's not human.

From Burt on Mon, Apr 20, 2009 at 16:31:38 from 68.76.197.194

Spray it with a squirt gun.

From TylerS on Wed, Apr 22, 2009 at 10:37:01 from 66.29.160.130

Or just a GUN? j/k, just make sure that you never feed it or pet the dang thing. Then it would stay for ever.

Ran on the treadmill today. It was too cloudy and cool for me to get up the motivation to go outside. I ran one mile in 10 minutes, took a short break, ran another mile close to all out in around 7:25, then took a break and got back on the treadmill did .25 walk, .25 run, .25 walk, .25 run. I'm having trouble staying motivated to just run, so doing fast and short and then walking and repeating makes me keep on running and at least it gets my heart rate up.

I ran on the treadmill on Monday too - are you from Western New York, sounds like we got the same weather.

I loved the treadmill this winter, but now that it's spring running on the treadmill is a drag.

There's a sign up that someone found the cat and is taking care of it, but trying to find it's owners. I guess it must of decided to try to get into someone else place when it realized that I would give it milk outside, but not let it in! This made me feel better because I was afraid it didn't have a home, but didn't want it inside. Plus I know almost nothing about cats.

10 minutes easy, 5X 2 minutes with a 1 minute walking break in between, then I  mostly walked the rest of the way home with a little bit of running. Was our for about 38:30
